A Modern Twist to Thanksgiving

We tend to stick with tradition, because it’s what we have known all our lives. But even if you feel like doing something new “this year” time flies and when you realize that Thanksgiving is creeping up on you, you no longer have time to think of that new style you wanted to do for your Thanksgiving party. (At least this is what happens to me and my friends LOL)

We have collected a few great ideas to help you host a chic and modern Thanksgiving and/or Friendsgiving party:

Graphic Elements

A cool alternative for food labels would be a fun menu to set the mood for your entire table decor. Don’t worry if you don’t have any graphic designer skills! You can copy this exact menu by Almost Makes Perfect — Download for free template and customize.

Into the woods: Relaxed Vibes

Of course wooden serving pieces, organic stoneware bowls and natural linens or jute runner! To give it an extra and earthy welcoming setting add orange glassware and voila!. Keep it all in the same warm tones and instead of napkin rings, knot your linens instead to reinforce the relaxed vibe.

Dare to be Colorful

Arrange a spectrum of salad plates and napkins along your table and add a complementary centerpiece. The rich jewel tones combined with copper or gold flatware and warm wooden candleholders make the rainbow setup feel more adult.

Taking Color to Another Level

This fun Thanksgiving table decor reveals the surprising effect just one unexpected color. If you have the time, paint half  or three quarters of the pumpkins in varying shades of the color/s of your liking and leave the rest in classic orange. This will completely transform the table to a modern look. Try painting some pumpkins in shades of pink, or a deep shade of purple and creating an hombre effect. Try also doing shades of different colors and add in some metallics. Lastly, emphasize one of the colors by pairing it with matching placemats or linens. Remember that matching napkins will help create a cohesive look — don’t be afraid of patterns.

To buy: Pumpkins . We suggest to prime pumpkins before painting!

A White Affair

The color of elegance and one that will never go out of style, white. Add in a little bit of gold and some natural fibers and elements and you’ve got yourself a fancy, classic with a modern approach to the Thanksgiving theme. Place twinkle lights around the centerpiece to add a gentle glow. Line the table with fresh-smelling eucalyptus for an extra sensory experience.

Moody Modern

It is totally okay to defy the typical Thanksgiving color palette in favor of moodier hues. Using matte black, wood tones, copper or gold, and some greens creates a fall vibe, without looking like you bought out the holiday aisle at the craft supply store.

Instead of a traditional centerpiece or fall flowers, you can also opt for on-trend air plants. These will be a big hit with your guests as they can take home as party favors. Use with place card or by napkin.

Limited in Time

Lastly, for those of you with limited time to make anything happen, we found a fabulous company in Chicago that rents all dinnerware. They continuously add to their collections and just came up with their Thanksgiving themed set. Check out their collections! You won’t be dissapointed!

Hope this inspired you a little so you can create your own modern Thanksgiving style!
